Events

All classes take part in school visits to support their learning. Special events and visits are planned to fit within a sequence of work to enhance the acquisition of knowledge. These may include visits to places of historical, geographical or scientific importance such as Harewood House, Bradford Industrial Museum, Brimham Rocks, Saltaire, or museums and heritage sites. Children in years 5 and 6 take part in a residential visit to Seahouses in Northumberland.  We also invite visitors, including parents in to school to run events aligned to our curriculum to enhance pupils’ knowledge. Examples of recent visitors have included: theatre groups, artists, religious groups, the emergency services, authors, historians, Olympic athletes, parliamentarians and the NSPCC.

Music, drama and sport activities are highly valued as part of the broader curriculum. They enrich the knowledge and skills taught in other subjects. Such visits may include the Ilkley Literature Festival, theatre productions, Swimming Galas, intra school sporting competitions, Cross country running competitions, intra school house debating competitions and art exhibitions.

We are supported by an excellent PTA who organise fund raising events such as the Christmas Fayre, summer barbecue and leavers’ disco for all children.
